Victorian Tea Honoring Ruth Boone by the San Ramon Historic Foundation

2011VICTORIAN TEA, HONOURING RUTH QUAYLE BOONE

Sunday, September 9, 2012, 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm
Presented by the San Ramon Historic Foundation
San Ramon Community Center

In 1997, Ruth Boone donated the remaining 16 acres of Forest Home Farms to the city of San Ramon. Her desire was for this property, the buildings, and the trees to be preserved forever in the memory of her husband, Travis Moore Boone, and to be open for public enjoyment.

After her death on July 5, 1998, friends decided to have a tea in her memory. Ruth’s favorites — chocolate and black current tea — were served, and everyone wore a hat. A great time was had by all, and it was decided to have an annual tea, open to everyone.

The event includes wonderful sweets and savories and, of course, cups and cups of tea. We recommend the black current. Prizes are given for the best costume and best hat. Volunteers have put together a large selection of Opportunity Baskets.

SRHF volunteers make and sell magnificent Victorian hats. A video of Ruth telling her own story, etched ornaments, and other gift items will be sold. For many volunteers, this event is an act of love, for they knew Ruth and were at that very first tea.

We hope you will join us for an afternoon of tea, savories, sweets, and conversation! Stay tuned for ticket & registration information.
